DrivingSales, LLC: Front-end Developer and UI/UX Designer
View Original Posting
(Salt Lake City, UT) DrivingSales aims to connect progressive automotive dealership professionals to the people and insights they need to achieve maximum success. DrivingSales is a trusted source for dealer-driven news and information, online training, performance data, and a professional network for dealers.
We are seeking a Front-End Developer and UI/UX Designer. As such, you would be a participant and leader in discussions on design, user interface, and user experience. Based on decisions made with the production team, you would then aid in building wireframes and mockups to help conceptualize and plan. We’d prefer that you don’t always need an entire, pixel-perfect mockup before you can start coding and prototyping. We'd like you to be a champion of Web Standards and clean code and take care to notate and organize your code.
This is what we're looking for:
- You must be REALLY good and fast at HTML/CSS. This is what you will do with the majority of your time. Keeping up-to-date with the newest HTML5 and CSS3 stuff is important, as is making judgement calls on where and where not to use certain parts of them in a given project.
- Ability to conceptualize in wireframes and plan a design in mockups, but then move on to code rather quickly. Building a system of components in HTML, CSS and JS that work together is more important than painstakingly designing page-by-page pixel-perfect mockups that, in the end, are just a picture of what something *could* be.
- Working knowledge of MVC architecture (you don’t need to be able to work super close to the metal, mostly at the View level, but you do need have a working understanding of how to implement your code in an MVC environment)
- Experience with a cross bow. Err... cross-browser compatibility
- Familiarity, and preferably some experience with, Responsive Web Design
- Experience with Javascript libraries is important; being able to write custom javascript would be really sweet.
- Our culture is very important to us. We're looking for team members who can work hard, be passionate about what they do and what we all do together, and play well with the rest of the team. We believe in humble, stellar service to our community members and clients.
MUST-HAVES:
- Minimum of 3 years direct experience as a Front-End Developer and/or UI/UX Designer
- HTML(5) and CSS(3), and a LOVE for both
- Wireframing and User Interface design skills
- Ability to take your (or somebody else’s) wireframe and/or design, and implement it in HTML and CSS
- Keen attention to CSS3 design details
- Experience with CSS Preprocessors (we use Sass)
- Familiarity with using CSS Preprocessors along with OOCSS techniques to keep code maintainable and extensible
- Familiarity with Javascript libraries such as jQuery
- Basic understanding / familiarity with PHP
- WordPress experience
- Familiarity with implementing Responsive Web Design
- Working knowledge of MVC Architecture (as a front-end dev --not necessarily with crazy back-end stuff)
- Experience with version control software (we use Git)
- Proactive, autonomous, team-oriented work-style
- Work hard / Play hard attitude
- Ability to communicate well
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Icon Font experience
- Vast JavaScript knowledge
Job Perks: Our team is the greatest perk... we totally do potluck Fridays. But we've got pingpong, foosball, and LuvSacs, too. We've got a unique position in the automotive market with crazy potential to make some waves and grow. We've got a laid back work hard / play hard culture. Apply: Contact: Jared Hamilton
Phone: 801-502-6321
Email: jared@drivingsales.com
Please email resumés or links to resumés to jared@drivingsales.com. Please also include either a portfolio or a list of links to work that you've done. WE NEED TO SEE WORK YOU'VE DONE. THIS IS IMPORTANT. We're looking to make a decision quickly, so we will be contacting you via email to let you know whether we will be calling you in for an interview. Thanks!
