Sweden Unlimited is a leading interactive agency providing design and web development for luxury fashion and lifestyle brands. Focusing on ecommerce using open source technologies, we strive for excellent design and rich user experience.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer that’s passionate about creating efficient, scalable software and services. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the full software stack, have their finger on the pulse of new technologies and strive to create elegant code.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Work closely with our Project Mgmt, Design and Frontend Tech teams to create new features and services

- Create clean, well-documented and efficient software and services

- Maintain, refactor and optimize existing sites and services

Required Skills:

- Expertise in Object Oriented PHP and experience with various aspects of "PHP: The Right Way"

- Experience with web frameworks such as CakePHP, Rails or Django

- Experience with CMS/Blog platforms such as Drupal, Expression Engine, Wordpress, MT or Alfresco

- Expertise in RDBMS programming, modeling and optimization using MySQL or Postgresql

- Experience developing and interacting with REST-ful web services

- Expertise in writing tests and test-able code

- Experience with modern version control (git, bitbucket) and workflows

Desired Skills:

- Experience with e-commerce and e-com platforms such as Magento, XCart, Spree etc..

- Proficiency in other languages such as Python or Ruby (extra credit for Java, C++, Go or Scala)

- Knowledge and experience with implementing various GoF design patterns

- Proficiency with Linux maintenance and light system administration

- DevOps experience with frameworks such as Chef or Puppet

- Experience with NoSQL engines such as MongoDB, Redis or Couch

- Experience with TDD, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

- Experience with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban

- Involvement in open source projects or regular Meetup groups

- Interest in fashion, design or art.

(New York, NY) charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. In five years, we’ve funded more than 8,000 water projects to provide 3.2 million people with access to clean water. We believe we can end the water crisis in our lifetime -- we need incredibly creative, passionate and experienced staff to make this happen.

As a Special Programs Software Developer, you’ll lead the development of a back-end system and database to provide analytics for the Remote Sensor Project, bringing greater sustainability and transparency to our water projects in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design system architecture for data flow and storage.
• Design and build an interactive data analytics platform.
• Utilize API’s to pull data from multiple sources.
• Design, build and test algorithms based on abstract analytical goals.
• Map each water project using Google Maps and other GIS applications.
• Create an automated event-triggered alerting system.
• Create customized reports to partner organizations.
• Work closely with engineering partners.
• Explore new and innovative technology solutions and tools.

MUST-HAVES

• Degree in computer science.
• Experience with RDBMS/MySQL, PHP, Java, CSS, Javascript and HTML.
• Experience with Google Maps API.
• Experience building system architecture.
• Experience with statistical analysis is a plus, such as R / SciPy / Matlab.
