Escalate Media is looking for a full time Ruby on Rails Software Developer. We run a network of niche community based websites and we need someone with the ability to work on Ruby on Rails based projects for our websites. You will be working with a team of developers under the direction of the company CTO. 
This is a full time contract job, where you will be working from home. If you lack the self-discipline to succeed in this environment please do not apply. This is NOT an entry level position. After the contract concludes, an option to extend to full-time permanent basis may be presented.

Company Requirements: 

• Ability to work 40+ hours a week (no other work being done on our time)
• Able to work well in a team environment. 
• Must be able to chat on the telephone, be available in our company IRC chat room, and be able to be on Instant messenger throughout the day for communication purposes 
• Must have your own equipment and software 
• Must be based in North America
• Must have excellent communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain modular components for EM’s network of websites using standard development tools
• Work closely with other team members and project managers to communicate progress, issues and resolutions during the project life cycle
• Provide technical consultation to project managers and internal clients where required
• Maintain clear and concise documentation for project work
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements: 

• 2 or more years of experience with Ruby on Rails
• Experience in Linux/Unix based environments required
• A minimum of 5-6 years of development experience in software or website development 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience 
• Experience programming Ruby on Rails MVC  
• Experience with HTML, PHP, and JavaScript client-side scripting
• Experience with MySQL , Sphinx, or equivalent
• Experience with high traffic environments desirable
• Experience with vBulletin and Wordpress desirable
• Knowledge of XML, SOAP and AJAX desirable
• Knowledge of revision control software such as GIT / SVN

The Work
Design a restaurant-specific web analytics system
