We are Advant Interactive, a group of design and developer nerds. We're a small bunch so far but we have plans for world domination.

We are on the lookout for an individual who seeks a position at the cutting edge of web development.

We're a non-partisan tech startup out to reform our broken political system. We're in need of an awesome designer to work with our CTO on a part-time basis developing our first iteration of the web and mobile app. Here's how he describes what we're looking for:
Job Description:
You will be designing and developing (from mockups to html) the front-end of a Ruby on Rails website. The website will be a member-only site, and have an admin portion of the site in addition to the public portion of the site. You will be working directly with a backend developer during this time. The design and HTML needs to be responsive, and we will be looking into designing a mobile app (iOS/Android) in the near future. Please note that the non-HTML mockup will be a starting point only. Most the design should and will happen in the HTML phase, as we anticipate the site will be changing and much of the content will not be developed (or all of the interface functionality) at the point HTML production begins.
Responsibilities:
* Creating design mockups for approval
* Creating high quality, responsive-design html from design, including the associated CSS
* We expect the html to be clean, readable and consistent
* The CSS names should be logical and internally consistent with the whole project
* Help with javascript as needed for simple dynamic parts of site
* Running Rails site on your local machine as you work on the site
* Committing your work to git repository
* Working directly with remote programmer to create and develop sections of the site
* May need to run some local tests on views
* Help flesh out user interface experience
* Contribute to the overall site experience and direction via feedback and helping with the decision making process
* After the initial site is created, much of this job will consist of smaller updates, responding to the programmer as needed. The exact amount of work necessary each week will probably fluctuate but we will do our best to be as consistent as possible, and will definitely work with your schedule as much as possible
* Ability to take direction and work cooperatively while potentially working with other front-end and back-end developers
* Help design mobile application design and interface
Skills:
* Strong HTML (HTML5) skills
* Strong CSS skills
* Strong User Interface design skills
* Comfortable working on the command line, as needed, given some direction
* Source Code control tools experience, especially git
* Experience working around embedded languages, such as PHP, ASP, or ERB (Rails)
* Able to run a Ruby on Rails project locally
* Javascript skills a plus
* SASS experience a plus
* Experience working with a VM such as VirtualBox a plus
* Collaborative spirit
If this is you, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks for checking our listing out.
