First impressions are priceless.  You’ve heard it before.  Make sure you’ve got an attention grabbing professional cover letter that is concise and to-the-point.  Explain, in the letter, why you hope to be considered for the position, and give a brief rundown of your most interesting accomplishments.  Close the letter by thanking the reader for their time.

An jump-out cover letter can literally mean the difference between getting your resume read, and being overlooked.  Many job seekers fail almost instantly by spending 100% of their time preparing their resume.  When, in fact, equal time if not more, should be spent on the cover letter.

A good resume with a bad cover letter is like a car with nice interior, but with no paint and a dent in the side. 

The best way to know when you’ve got a winner is to ask your friends and colleagues for their input.  Modify the letter accordingly, always taking your gut instinct as gospel, and within a few drafts you’ll have the perfect first representation of you.  The perfect cover letter.
