Not everyone can find what he or she is looking for when it comes to a job hunt. Sometimes, you have to just buckle down and take a job that isn’t exactly what you’d hoped for because you need money or you need to get your foot in the door.  It’s hard to flip burgers when you really wanted to be an executive, so you might want to spend as much time as you can trying to find, if not the right job, at least something that’s in the area of what you’re looking for.

The first way to find what you’re looking for is to explore all options. There are a lot of volunteer opportunities, internships, and mentoring opportunities that can help you find your way while you’re looking for the right job.

As a second way to find what you’re looking for you can network – go online; get your name out there, but be professional about it. A lot of employers check MySpace and Facebook to see if prospective employees have pages. If you talk about your drinking parties and your traffic tickets, you can probably forget getting hired by a serious company. Think about how others will see you. And the third way to find what you’re looking for? Don’t give up. Be persistent and keep working for what you want, even if you can’t get to it right now. Goals and dreams are important and the people you work for will take note of that dedication.
