Nervous? How To Combat The Pre Interview Jitters

Almost everyone gets nervous when they’re about to go into an interview. Will they get the job? Will the boss ask them something that they can’t, or don’t want to, answer? What if they accidentally burp or knock something over or trip or do something embarrassing? Those kinds of thoughts can run around and around in your head until you get sick or panic.
You can help avoid them if you look at things different ways, but you have to practice. Don’t just start doing it the day of your interview. In general, you need to look at things in a positive way and focus on what you can do. Don’t envision things going wrong.
The odds are you’re not going to have an embarrassing incident and if you do, simply apologize and go on. Drawing more attention to it will just make it worse. The person interviewing you is human, too, and he or she knows that accidents can happen. If you don’t know the answer to a question, be truthful about it. Prospective employers like honesty. You can also practice deep breathing exercises. If you do them correctly no one will know you’re doing them expect you, and by breathing from your diaphragm and not the tops of your lungs you’ll feel more relaxed and better able to handle that interview.
